Golden Bamboo Phyllostachys aurea

Cane grow to 30 feet tall, 2" wide, green turns golden with age.  Internodes are short and lower ones often zigzag.  Colony grows from rhizomes which can be controlled by mowing.  Hardy to 0° F.  Hardy in Taylor County.  Drought tolerant.

Similar Species

Giant Cane (Canebrake, Southern Cane) Arundinaria gigantea ssp. gigantea

Canes grow 15-20 feet tall, 1" wide.  Hardy to -10° F.  Resistant to fire.  Colony grows from rhizomes which can be controlled by mowing.
