Lamiaceae (Labiatae) - Mint family
Drummond's False Pennyroyal Hedeoma drummondii
Flowers are about 3/16" wide and 1/2" long. Blooms from leaf nodes. Flower "bract" is long, very hairy and has bristle like "teeth" on the edge. Upright plant about 8" tall with branches at base. Stem has rings of 2 long leaves with several flowers that extend past the length of leaf. Leaves have lemon scent if crushed.

Very tiny leaves. Spotted flower is large compared to leaves and calyx. Blooms from leaf nodes. Flower "bract" is very hairy and has bristle like "teeth" on the edge, shorter than H. drummondii. Leaves have lemon scent if crushed.

Forked Blue-curls (Bastard Pennyroyal) Trichostema dichotomum
Flower with 4 equal upper lips and a large lower lip, 1/2"-3/4" long. Upper lips are lavender/blue, lower can be blue or white with purple dots. Long curled stamens and styles sweep over the flower. Four one-seeded nutlets grow in a cup with 3 sharp teeth and one larger rounded tooth.

Tiny lavender flowers from leaf axis, rounded stars with one longer petal. Leaves narrow of several lengths. Small plant.
