Flower 3/4"-1" wide. Plant is upright to about 12" tall. Thin leaves grow in rings up the stem.

This plant's Genus name has changed from the one mentioned in most guide books.
Tube flower about 1/2" wide and 1/2" long. Flower can be rose or white. Flower falls off easily when bumped. Upright to sprawling stems 6"-12" long.

Similar Species

American Water-willow Justicia americana
Lavender/pink/white flowers on spikes above leaves, 3 long petals with center with purple spots, top corolla purple to white. 4" long narrow leaves. Anthers are purple/red. Lives at water's edge. Grows to 1 1/2 feet tall in dense clumps from creeping rhizomes.
