Verbenaceae - Vervain family

Texas Lantana (Calico Bush, Shrub Verbena) Lantana urticoides  (L. horrida)

Flower cluster 1"-1 1/2" wide.  Flower opens as yellow then changes to orange and red as it ages.  A trailing, mound-shaped bush, 1-3 feet tall with some varieties to 6 feet tall. Leaves are prickly.  Fruit is a black drupe that is eaten by many birds.

West Indian Lantana Lantana camara

Flower cluster 1"-2" wide.  Flower color is highly variable, cream to yellow to pink to lavender.  This is a mound-shaped bush, 6 feet tall and 8 feet wide.  The evergreen leaves are are 5" long.  Fruit is a black drupe that is eaten by many birds.
