False Dandelion (Texas Dandelion) Pyrrhopappus multicaulis

Flower about 1 1/2" wide.  Translucency make these flowers glow.

Asteraceae (Compositae) - Sunflower family

Prickly Lettuce Lactuca serriola

Flower about 1/2" wide.  Plant grows 4-5 feet tall with  1/2" thick main stems.  Leaves are 3-4" long, thorny like a thistle, and grow on the main stem only.  Flowering stems have tiny leaves but generally look dead.  Stems are stiff but not woody.

Asteraceae (Compositae) - Sunflower family

Possibly an aged stage of

Huisache Daisy (Butterfly Daisy, Honey Daisy) **zy 1** Amblyolepis setigera (Helenium setigerum)

Flower ball about 3/4" wide.  I did not get a good photo of the ray petals.  Balls dry to white and papery.  Plant grew about 2 feet tall.
