Annual Aster Aster subulatus
White flower is tented with purple, 1/4" to 1/2" wide. Slender green stems can be upright or sprawling to several feet. Old growth is woody and survives lawn mowing. Leaves are blade-like and vary greatly in length.

Side-flower Aster (Calico, Starved Aster, White Woodland Aster) Aster lateriflorus
Clustered white aster with large center. Ray petals can be pink. Lanceolate leaves up to 6" long. Grows 2-3 feet tall. Blooms September-October.

Heath Aster (White Heath Aster) Symphyotrichum ericoides (Aster ericoides)
Flower is 1/2" wide, white or pink (not mixed). Blunt bracts stand out along along the peduncle (flower stem). It grows in mounding colonies that reach 3 feet tall. Leaves are small. This plant will put on flowers even in a drought.

Babywhite Aster (Rose Heath, Baby Aster) Chaetopappa ericoides (Leucelene ericoides)
Flower about 1/2" wide. Stems are covered in short thin leaves. Plant grows about 7" tall in tight bunches.
